20th Hike - It's not the Rockies, it's not the Alps, but it's MY mountain!

Today I hiked the Escarpment Sideroad. I was provided with a view that I am very used to seeing whenever I travel down Highway 10 to visit my hometown of Brampton. Today was not as clear as I have seen it sometimes, but you can see the CN Tower in the background.
This is the Toronto skyline from the edge of the escarpment.
Today I started on the Escarpment Sideroad halfway between St. Andrew's Road and Mountainview Road and I hiked towards Airport Road. We started by taking a small trail into the woods and then out again onto the road itself. There were some very, very nice houses along the way.

This one particularly caught my eye. There were some lovely birdhouses beside a very calm and beautiful pond. It just looked so peaceful.

After we made it to Airport Road we headed back to where the car was parked.
Does anyone else find that this peaks your curiosity? What is just beyond the hill?

After we got back to the car, we started to go into a wooded piece. However, we found this sign:
Needless to say, we turned around, and I will have to come back some time later without the dogs. So, we went ahead on Escarpment Sideroad and we stopped at the intersection with St. Andrew's Road. We then hiked to Heart Lake Road. It was along this piece that we were treated to some amazing views!

I'm pretty sure my parents condo in Brampton is in the background here.
All in all, this was a very beautiful walk with some pretty amazing views!

19th Hike - Ummmm, Skip this one!

So today I hiked the piece from Innis Lake Road and Finnerty Sideroad to Airport Road and Escarpment Sideroad. If you are not dedicated to hiking the whole Bruce Trail, I highly recommend skipping the Airport Road part.

We started out pleasantly enough. There is a new trail piece that you can go on instead of on the road from the intersection of Innis Lake Rd. and Finnerty Sideroad. It's not on the map, so I didn't see it at first.

Poor Scruffy got caught trying to get back through the fence
After this small piece, we were on the road, and really, it wasn't too bad. Just a bit muddy, but I think they had just graded this piece.
A very small waterfall, hidden in the trees.

An intriguing root system.
And here is where it became a not so enjoyable hike. Once we were on Airport Road, we met up with a lot of traffic, especially a lot of trucks. This is not so great for hiking.

A new sidetrail.

If you look very carefully, you can see the Toronto skyline. Just remember, it is an iphone :)
I guess it is inevitable, but I was pretty disgusted by the garbage.

I was very glad to see this sign, and I know at least the next piece won't have all the large trucks!

I'm stumped. I can't figure out what bird this feather is from. If anyone knows, please leave a comment!
I turned back and retraced my steps to return to the car.

18th Hike - Connection

Today was a short and sweet little hike. I had to connect the hike from the Boyne Valley Provincial Park to the one we did from the 30th to the 25th Sideroad the other day. I parked on Hurontario St., just south of Highway 89. This is right across the road from the Boyne Valley parking lot.

Always the faithful companions, Scruffy and Meeko.
A gorgeous barn turned house!
It was quite a simple hike, approximately 3.8 kms. and just two roads, Hurontario Street and 30 Sideroad. It didn't even take an hour to do.

Just off of 30 Sideroad, this was where we were a few weeks ago.
A very fascinating tree stump.

A view of the Boyne Valley Provincial Park across the road.
